McConnell, What Compromise?

Political Correction:

While McConnell stressed his commitment to repealing health care reform, an issue on which the public is closely divided, he also suggested Republicans could work with the White House to extend the Bush tax cuts for everyone. But recent polls — including the exit polls on Tuesday — have consistently shown that most Americans support allowing the tax breaks for the wealthy to expire. Furthermore, McConnell and his party have bitterly opposed initiatives that enjoy overwhelming public support, such as repealing the discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. So, when McConnell says the White House "will have to begin to move in our direction," he's not necessarily talking about the American people.

Meanwhile, McConnell is facing pressure from his right flank not to compromise no matter what stances Obama and Democrats take. In a letter to McConnell, Tea Party Nation founder Judson Philips urged the senator to "grow a pair," adding that "the days of reaching across the aisle are over."

Well I think these next two years are going to full of compromise. And by compromise I mean the Republicans/Teabaggers throwing temper tantrums in the middle of the Target aisle, when they don't get the shiny object they wanted from mommy Obama. I, for one, am psyched!

McConnell, mind you, is still in the minority in the Senate because the "American people" voted against his direction.

it's all a joke, man. he's a dithering old asshole. i say we start with cutting spending by taking away ALL federal funds for his state.

Leonard Cohen had it right in his song, "Everybody Knows":

everybody knows that the dice are loaded
everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
everybody knows that the war is over
everybody knows that the good guys lost
everybody knows that the fight was fixed
the poor stay poor and the rich get rich
that's how it goes
everybody knows....
