Why I Hate My Local Newspaper

The working man is the villain. Chicago Tribune headline:

CTA pay for bus drivers is No. 3 in nation

The article is set up to "inform" you that the local transit authority's issues are rooted in the fact that those stupid and lousy bus drivers make too much money. If you read the comments MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. It is almost as if the reporter was peeved by the idea of a blue collar guy making a decent wage. No word yet on when the Tribune will be printing their piece about the CTA executive board's hourly wages and how those stack up against the rest of the major cities in America. I wait with baited breath.

What's notable is that the hourly wages of the most of those cities are pretty damn close. Boston seems to be a bit outside the bounds, but Chicago is only 13 cents higher than New York.

Of course this has nothing to do with wages. It has to do with politicians continually adding to the budget while refusing to raise taxes in a time of plenty. Now that it's not a time of plenty they are screwed. Fail.
