Two of the four leaders allegedly behind the al Qaeda plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines passenger jet over Detroit were released by the U.S. from the Guantanamo prison in November, 2007, according to American officials and Department of Defense documents. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the Northwest bombing in a Monday statement that vowed more attacks on Americans.
American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an "art therapy rehabilitation program" and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials.
Guantanamo prisoner #333, Muhamad Attik al-Harbi, and prisoner #372, Said Ali Shari, were sent to Saudi Arabia on Nov. 9, 2007, according to the Defense Department log of detainees who were released from American custody. Al-Harbi has since changed his name to Muhamad al-Awfi.
Can we just agree that not one of the Bush Administration policies kept America safer in any conceivable way? I know that he "inherited 9/11" and all, but come on. Who is anyone kidding anymore? The ripples of the Bush administration are long being felt after he has left office from the economy, to health care, foreign policy and national security. The sheer incompetence of the man aside, his administration dropped the ball on pretty much everything especially on their faux reality that his policies were keeping America safe. This is a prime example of that.

What I'm deeply curious about with this is how they got from point A to point B. Were they died in the wool ruthless terrorist types who we didn't realize were so bad? Were they good folks that we tormented until they wanted to destroy us? Were they relatives of some well connected Saudi that the administration wanted to make nicey nicey with?
Expect Cheney to get on TV soon and say, "SEE! We can't let ANY of them go!" Yes, Dick, that's nice, then why did YOU let them go. Clown.
I can't wait to see how they try to spin this. I have noticed most right wingers are trying to ignore it or blame Napolitano.
My favorite is the hold on the TSA chief...the logic is this simple "unions are worse than terrorists."
