McNabb Redskin for Life

NFC East Blog:

"I'll be here with the Redskins for years," he told NBC's Dan Hellie. "We've both said it, I've said it, they've said it. I want to be a Redskin. I want to be a Redskin. Just like I was an Eagle for years, I want to be a Redskin. I want to finish my career here. There's a lot of exciting things that are ahead of us here, there's a lot of talent here, and I think good things can happen here in Washington."

Damn straight. It will probably take a couple years, but if Brett Favre can last as long as he has as an effective QB, I don't see how McNabb won't either. Let's hope greatness is around the corner. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

Keep in mind that Favre is a very very rare circumstance. He's 40. You know how many other top notch quarterbacks have been able to maintain that performance until they were 40? One, and he's it.

Having said that you've got three solid years barring unexpected injury. My evidence:

Elway: 38
Marino: 38
Montana: 38

Sense a pattern? :) What it really comes down to is how good the offensive line for the skins is. If they keep him from getting punished too much he can last. I will give Shanahan infinite credit for his ability to put solid offensive lines together. Though the transition to the zone blocking scheme might make the next couple of years difficult as they change players to fit the scheme.

Are the skins grooming any future QB's right now? Figure 2-3 years would give plenty of time to do that so they don't miss a beat when McNabb does call it quits.

I have an inkling Donovan will live long enough to give himself metal legs. LOL.

The O-line has been my main concern from the beginning of the season. If they can keep McNabb upright, it will give the Skins a better chance definitely. Shanahan as you stated, has an uncanny ability to make average and unknowns usable and effective in his schemes. It will be interesting to see how the team evolves in a short time.

As for future QB's we have Grossman...DRAFT 2011 here we come!
