The next time your wondering why there are so few black Republicans, consider the fact this unreconstructed Confederate was not long ago one of their greatest crusaders. Consider that he is equating the resistance of slavery, with a rejection of Christ. And there's an African-American right next to him, nodding in agreement.
Fuck Pat Robertson. Fuck the "Christian" Broadcasting Network. And fuck any black person who'd nod reverently while a white supremacist slanders our founding fathers. She should be ashamed of herself.
I think that pretty much sums up how most people feel. You can find more on Haiti and their deal with the devil here. Robertson must think slavery is the work of God....

Oh the Christian right, how I love to loathe thee... Seriously, even if you strip away everything else (neo-Confederacy, racism, etc), what Robertson said was just intellectually dishonest. I don't know much about Haiti or the Caribbean slave uprisings, but the first word that came to my mind when Pat Robertson said "pact with the devil" was "voodoo". I knew that was what he was talking about immediately. If you've ever spent any serious time in dialogue with hardcore evangelical Christians, these attitudes become pretty clear. They view my faith in much the same way as they do Voodoo: witchcraft. Not surprising, considering Voodoo is a merging of African tribal religion with Roman Catholicism...
To Pat Robertson, non-Protestant religions = the Devil. I'm not surprised but I'm pretty disappointed all the same.

Agrees with you. He hates voodoo so much he doesn't realize how insane he sounds.
