If you haven't read it already, I found this WSJ article on the Ricci v. DeStefano case much more interesting and detailed. Cohen basically ripped it off.

Not in this case. A number of Latinos/Hispanics who qualified had their results thrown out, too, and one of them is suing with Ricci. They didn't promote anyone... you don't find that suspicious or unfair?
And wouldn't it be nice if race was "supremely irrelevant"? I think Cohen's a bit naive on that point, but electing President Obama is a step in the right direction, in my humble opinion.
Nice article. I find the most telling stat to be this "the authoritative National Assessment of Educational Progress reported its 2005 findings: 29% of white 12th graders -- but only 6% of those who were black -- scored at the "proficient" level in mathematics."
It speaks to the roots of this issue.
My problem with Cohen's article was that he made it just a black and white racial divide and I didn't find it to be that simple.
