Get Your Dunkin' Tuesday

It really must be something to be a Centrist. One election in New York, and you begin panicking, fanning yourself, and swearing the world is over cuz SoCIALism. It's New York. Also too, shut up. Democratic voters want change; they want to fight, and this idea that the squishy center is the answer is dead. Then you have folks with " Project 2029 " -- "kids over clicks" -- I have no words. If your first instinct is to ban social media and not prosecute this administration, you're not paying attention. Our democracy has been under attack for 18 months. What are you doing? What are you watching? Fuckin' A.  Here are your highlights: Sam Alito has Fox News brain . Tragic. Venezuelans deported by the US die in the earthquake . This administration has more blood on its hands.  Ford is recalling over 700,000 vehicles .  The Iran War still isn't over .  Fair play. The flop that is Trump's Freedom Fair, or whatever it's called .  America is turning 25...

Summer heat is here. We've been dealing with storms, tornadoes, and more storms. All summer. I used to think the weather didn't change your day, but here it sure does. Plans change. Moods change. Lives change. Now, we have heat predicted to go as high as 100 degrees. The weather has been so wild that even my youngest is asking about it daily. Where we live, I'm starting to think Interstellar wasn't fiction. It was a prediction. It's fine. Outside is overrated.  Here are your highlights:   Great American Fair Fail .  Firefighters die on the Colorado-Utah border .  There was no Trump mandate. Took ya long enough, pundits.  Pete Buttigieg and his family were swatted . This is right-wing terrorism.  A point of concern. NY Dem Congressional Nominee, Darializa Chevalier , has a troubling social media past. Word of advice: delete your Twitter account before running for any higher office. (Note: most of these attacks are bad faith, but it would behoove Dem S...

The USMNT B-Team almost pulled off the draw against Turkey. While I'm fine with this result, it exposed how suspect our bench is. MLS players, for the most part, can't compete at the intensity of other international squads. At least not yet. It's a comfort to know we're into the next round against a team we should beat. I say should because the World Cup is always full of surprises, see Germany. Here are your highlights:   Ex-NOAA employees re-create site for critical climate information .  RFK Jr. is a dangerous quack. New report raises even more red flags .  Ukraine attacks Moscow with over 600 drones . Is Russia Drago? Tragic. Venezuela discovers more than 500 dead from massive earthquakes .  In a moment of "what's corruption," J.D. Vance says Watergate wouldn't last the 24-hour news cycle . Prosecute these arrogant traitors.  Iran says the Strait of Hormuz is theirs to control , oops.  I am Frank Chow and I approve this message.

As we continue to battle the consequences of Climate Change, it's wild to me that the world seems to be unprepared and even surprised by its presence. A couple of years ago, we took our oldest to the UK. There, we experienced "unprecedented" heat. Most places, including where we were staying, didn't have "air con." Folks were going outside to sit in the shade to get away from their homes. Stores were running out of fans. We sweat nightly, even with fans and the windows open. Years later, here we are  with record heat, and people are at ever-greater risk. Leaders have known about infrastructure and technical limitations for over a decade, and for those who say, "I don't get it." I have been to Arizona and Texas before.  Here are your highlights:   The death toll continues to rise in the tragic earthquakes in Venezuela .  Stephen Miller, evil sucknavel, hates disabled people . Almost as much as he hates immigrants.  So not only did Trump lose hi...

We should be sounding the alarm about the Prairieland Protesters' sentences. Eight have been sentenced to 450 years in prison . Not only were the sentences beyond absurd, it shows how far this administration will go to punish dissent. As January 6ers were pardoned and readmitted for heinous crimes, these protesters were sentenced so harshly that they'll never have another day of freedom. Anyone can be labeled "antifa" by this administration. Protesting an unlawful detention program, one that has led to the deaths of men, women, and children, is truly American. Dark times.  Here are your highlights:   Chinese supercomputer is now the world's fastest .  Not good. The Crypto industry might get its way with regulation .  NY had a progressive day! It's always nice to see progressives win primaries. Please don't call it a "Tea Party" moment or some other nonsense . There were folks last night on Bluesky calling Mamdani a "kingmaker" -- New Y...

I'm wondering when folks in the Democratic Party will begin focusing on anti-war messaging. I think it's an easy winner; no more wars. Republicans start wars they don't know how to finish and cost us billions, while your gas prices go up, while groceries go up, and while you can't afford rent. Seems simple enough. Just speak it plainly. We should be the anti-war party. Attack the renaming of the Department of Defense, oh, and HOW MUCH IT COSTS. COSTS, stupid.  Here are your highlights:  Is there a strong enough politician in the UK to say Brexit was a historical mistake? And run on it? I'm not sure, but it's been a mess.  ACLU to focus on fair elections this fall .  Hegseth is getting our soldiers sick to own the Libs .  AI Wearables. Something tells me if Zuck is pushing it, it will fail .  National "Intelligence."  - to keep America safe, we must be less safe.  Refusing to spend aid. Please, Democrats, prosecute every last sociopath of th...

Get Your Dunkin' Monday

I hope everyone had a lovely Juneteenth and a Happy Father's Day. I had Friday off and used it to drive all around Illinois in search of camping gear that I ultimately had to buy online. But it was fun. Surprisingly, there aren't many places that sell backpacking gear. Father's Day was spent with our girls enjoying local smashburgers and arcade games. They won rubber duckies. I'm feeling much better after last week's scare. Still exhausted.  Here are your highlights:   Trump is a lameduck president who is failing miserably .  Keir Starmer quits on the stool! A lesson in how to not run on a mandate . Being a centrist with no convictions gets you nowhere.  Telehealth is helping women have abortions despite Alito's wishes.  Tornadoes keep coming. The problem is that when you cut FEMA, people suffer from floods or, worse, die .  China hits the U.S. back over sanctions .  Norway says "No" to AI for education. This is the way .  I am Frank Chow, ...

Well. I had quite the scare on Tuesday. I accidentally ate tree nuts, and I'm highly allergic. I had to stab myself with the EpiPen (for the first time) and head to the ER. I'm still kind of shell-shocked. Everything is fine. I'm okay, but rattled. I've done a really good job avoiding nuts for years. I read the labels. I made a mistake and almost paid the price. Thanks to the doctors and nurses. I'm here.  Here are your highlights:   Trump caves on the Iran war .  Digital Colonialism: U.S. Demands to Access African's Data . We got hit hard in Central Illinois. The storms have left thousands without power .  Vote by Mail . How Trump wants to rig the elections.  Obama's Presidential Center opens to the public .  Spies like these. Two Chinese-British jailed for spying on Hong Kong dissidents .  I am Frank Chow, and I approve this message.

Not sure what's going on, but I snoozed my alarm and didn't wake up. Perhaps it's the weather or simply exhaustion. Two days in a row, I didn't wake up for work...yikes. We're due for storms today and tomorrow. Tomorrow looks to be really hairy. We're starting to think we're the new tornado alley. Great news if you have storm anxiety like I do. So tonight I'll prepare, I'll charge lamps, have emergency blankets at the ready, etc. If we get hit tomorrow, I'll be ready. Don't make fun of me, I'm a city guy living in the country.  Here are your highlights: The secession movement in Illinois is stupid , but also racist.  The reality of ICE. Making children live on their own . It's a disgrace.  JD Vance says there's a digital deal with Iran . What a sad sack of shit.  Fox acquires Roku . Hide your parents' remote! Kash Patel is using our taxpayer money to gift cash to loyalists .  The Kennedy Center live stream .  I am Frank Chow,...

I'm a little behind today. Kiddos' camps are still roaring in full effect. To recap this weekend, the USA looked amazing in the World Cup, Brazil looked lethargic, and Germany looked like world beaters. There's a deal in Iran, or there isn't. The UFC event was a bust. And the Reflecting Pool is full of algae. Did I miss anything? Other than our president being a sleeping, senile, racist buffoon? Cool, cool. At least the Knicks won, which will bring back balance to the universe (or so I hope).  Here are your highlights:   Democrats need to seize on the stupid. A UFC fighter calling Michelle Obama a "man" is a prime example .  Russia attacks a religious site in Kyiv . Mitch McConnell has been  hospitalized .  Trump vs. Anthropic. Is AI too powerful?   AAPI folks have been adversely affected by Trump's immigration crackdown .  Is the Chinese economy a Zombie?   I am Frank Chow, and I approve this message.

And so it begins. The US Men's Soccer Team will go to battle on home turf in the World Cup. A day I was so looking forward to until, well, you know. I've long been a member of the American Outlaws, the US National Team supporters group. Every year, I get excited to see the squad, but this year has been difficult to cheer. Difficult to root for our team. Not now. It's mostly "meh", but I'm sure once the game starts, I'll get hyped. It's in my blood. Until then, I'm just hoping Trump doesn't make the tournament all about himself.  Here are your highlights:   The continued attack by the Trump administration on higher education and research will kill our planet .  The futility of claiming "self-defense" while Black .  ICE is full of it. Only 3% of detainees had a violent criminal record .  Elon might become the first trillionaire . Built on a house of lies. No one should be allowed to hoard such wealth.  12 days of protests. Javanka are ...

We received loud text messages around 11:30 pm last night. Sirens then went off, maybe 20 minutes later. A tornado touched down south of us and wiped out some structures. Luckily, as far as I can tell, everyone in our town is okay. Maybe lost power, but it wasn't as devastating for us as the warnings suggested. Not nearly as devastating as the Spurs' epic collapse to the Knicks last night. The pundits and fans will be dissecting that game for years to come. Can the Knicks win it all and reset our timeline? I believe if they win, it will right all that has gone wrong since the Cubs won in 2016 (I wish).  Here are your highlights:  Say it for the people in the back! Amnesty accuses Israel of committing ethnic cleansing .  Solar is outpacing Coal in America .  AI says it must be regulated. I don't buy it . It's a way to manipulate legislation. Unfortunately, we don't have a Congress that has shown any signs of regulating our tech overlords.  Trump is a walkin...

Welp, it's Platner vs. Collins. Let the chips fall where they may. I want Susan Collins to lose. That's my hot take. I don't support Platner. There are too many red flags, too many questions, and it's giving me Fetterman vibes. So, if you choose to support him, fine. Maine can have him. But Collins has needed to go for a long long time. And so, it is.  Here are your highlights:   Becerra will have an early lead over Hilton in the CA Governor race.  TRUMP'S FAILING ECONOMY - just kidding, the media wouldn't report it like that. Inflation up to a three-year high .  Violent xenophobic protests broke out in Belfast .  I know there won't be justice, but fuck Bill Gates .  Trump's losing the war in Iran , and he's doubling down on losing.  Days of increasing heat and humidity are making life harder in the Midwest and the South . It puts farm workers at risk.  I am Frank Chow, and I approve this message.

Trump getting booed at the NBA Finals is funny. We knew NYC would show up even if the stadium was full of celebrities and the 1%. The man wants all the attention in the most pathetic way possible. To him, it probably sounded like cheers. Then, of course, he fell asleep during a tight back-and-forth game. Calling Jake Tapper, anyone in the media! Trump is unfit for the presidency.  Here are your highlights:   One year into school cellphone bans , and it seems to be working.  The World Cup is going to be a disaster. Denying a Somali ref's entry is so embarrassing .  Half the country thinks the "American Dream" is out of reach .  Mike Johnson might be the worst speaker in history. He also lies through his teeth about elections . Why does the media just go along when there has been no evidence of mass voter fraud ever? Period.  First off, flesheating cattleworm sounds scary as hell. Like a horror movie. Second off, of course, this is happening under the M...

Summer is chaos for us parents. You can see the exhaustion on each face as we drop off the kiddos for another camp, hang out, or lesson. If you're a parent, I see you. If I had a normal summer this year, I would take a week or two off and go camping. Alas, that is not in my summer plans. At least Spencer Pratt lost.  Here are your highlights: Prayers up for families in the Philippines. A devastating earthquake kills 32 people .  World Cup meets Climate Change .  Apple to unveil AI? They've been behind for a while now . Wonder what it'll do. FRAUD IN CALIFORNIA . When will this charade stop? The Trump administration is destroying Cuba to no end .  Another mass shooting. This time at an Ohio festival . We can do something about this, but there's not a single Republican willing to do anything about it.  I am Frank Chow, and I approve this message.

Tonight we have a Pride event in our town. It's great to see our small town do something so inclusive. There are vendors, food trucks, and bands. I'm sure there will be some who have the "ick" that it's happening, but fuck them. It's 2026, grow up and have a gay old weekend!  Here are your highlights:   MAHA has weakened health care providers' ability to address outbreaks .  I really can't get over the shitification of Washington, D.C. by Trump. His latest idea is to add a promenade to the Lincoln Memorial .  Platner accused of domestic abuse .  A solid jobs report .  Mike Johnson is a weak speaker. House passes Ukraine aid .  Israel continues to strike Lebanon . Is there anyone in the US who has the stones to stop it?  I am Frank Chow, and I approve this message.

Israel continues its war crimes in Gaza and its invasion of Lebanon. The reports are horrific . There is no ceasefire, there never was, and Trump is a bigger fool than anyone. Bibi and his ilk are planning to wipe out what's left of Gaza, displacing millions. There are no world leaders doing anything about it. Hell, if you're a grifting American podcaster , you can't even get in the UK! This was all so avoidable; Congress and Trump could have stopped it at any point. They could choose to cut off Israel. Their silence is approval.  Here are your highlights:   The Screwworm sounds ominous. It is, and it's gross. The USDA has confirmed a case in Texas .  Russia is losing the war with Ukraine , so of course, they launched a large attack.  The National Guard has done little to nothing to curb violence in Washington, D.C.  How is Jaren Kushner not tarred and feathered at this point?   Rubio is a garbage person. Anyone touting him for 2028 shouldn't be take...

I try to be optimistic for our kids. I don't tell them how rough things are or some of the realities that surround them. It's becoming more difficult. When Dad has to give plasma to pay for gas, I guess that'll be the time to talk. I'm sure many are already at that point. I remember watching a talk show, and they were talking about the "pain at the pump." A panel of millionaires trying to understand living paycheck to paycheck. This moment feels a lot like that. I don't think Wall St. and the Haves have been this out of touch since 2008.  Here are your highlights:   The Supreme Court needs to be reformed . The Roberts Court is full of segregationists.  Destroying science to own the Libs. A truly McCarthy-esque move by Darth Vought .  Trump picks Pulte to be the top spy . And even Republicans think that's nuts.  The Death of 60 Minutes . Good for Pelley. Bari Weiss is a toxic stooge.  Republicans hate same-sex marriage. Happy Pride, y'all !  AI B...

How high is your gas price? Here it's a whopping $4.79. That's really high for our town, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. The "pain at the pump" is real. And consumers aren't confident either . I've seen many a pundit on BlueSky say we're all being ridiculous, and that the economy is fine. In fact, it's good! I think it's safe to say that looking at Wall St.'s gambling problem as a measure of the economy should die an epic death. "But the average American has savings!" Do they? Or are the numbers skewed by wealth hoarders? I'm not sure, but everyone I know isn't living it up like this economy is great. They also don't have the money, as the pundits say they do. Unless they're hiding it under couches.  Here are your highlights:   A different take on Platner . I respect the opposing opinion, but nah, he ain't for me.  Marco, you got some explaining to do , Rubio, to go in front of Congress to explai...

Happy Pride Month! I feel like more than ever, we need to celebrate. This administration continues to attack and vilify LGBTQ folks, especially trans folks. Fuck them. I won't be able to make Chicago Pride this year, but for those of you attending, I salute you. Have fun, be free, and be safe!  Here are your highlights:   Newark sets curfew after more clashes between cops and protesters . "Protect and serve." I don't care for Platner. And he keeps giving me more reasons why .  282 cases of Ebola .  Bibi is a war criminal. He also keeps screwing up the Iran talks . Trump is worthless.  The scope of Long COVID . I have a couple of friends who've had a rough time with Long COVID. It's even more frustrating that some doctors tell them they simply have depression.  The way we treat pigs is a sin .  I am Frank Chow, and I approve this message.
