 This weekend I'm headed back to Chicago. Ireland vs. New Zealand rugby match at Soldier Field . It will be epic. The last time I was at Soldier Field, the Commanders (then the Skins) played the Bears. And if I remember correctly, Jay Cutler, known MAGA loser, threw a bunch of interceptions, and the Commanders won.  SNAP benefits are about to expire . All because Republicans think it's only the Blahs that use the benefits. Republicans could fix this; there is a way around the shutdown to still supply necessary benefits....BUT they won't. I know of folks in our rural town who are on SNAP. All of them are white. Nearly 40% of SNAP recipients are white. Companies could, you know, pay a living wage. We could, you know, have a functioning economic system. But Republicans...  It's Friday, and in this rural town, we scare kids while they ride around in a tractor. I'm still not used to this. It's been five years now. I'm still not used to this.  Had some early meetings, a little late posting. One thing that's bothering me about this shutdown is the lack of empathy.  Went to Chicago and had a great time protesting the Orange Menace. It was peaceful. Full of joy and love. But also resolve. This was the biggest crowd I've ever seen in my life.
