 I've checked in on all my friends and they are okay for now. I lived in Santa Monica for three years, if I still lived there I'd have to evacuate. I can hardly fathom how quickly this fire wiped out entire neighborhoods, small businesses, and livelihoods. I experienced several fires while living in the Bay. The speed of this fire is nothing that I experienced. If you can donate, here are some places to do so.

Idaho is going after same-sex marriage - they won't stop there. These are the worst kind of people. Let people love who they love. Weirdos. 

US Surgeon General goes after alcohol. As someone in the industry, I'm interested in how folks respond. This seems to be an almost Prohibition-era decree. Like cigarettes and vaping people have freedom to do what they want. To me, this is more of a cultural issue. Americans are the only folks who binge drink in such a reckless way that it's embarrassing. We don't drink like Europeans and don't appreciate what goes into any bottle like most of the modern world. I teach that every semester. More to come on this...

Ch ch Changes

I think this place needs a makeover or I might archive the whole thing. I post thoughts to Twitter mostly these days and haven't had any time to maintain this space with long-form writing as intended. The political world right now is a total shit show. Trump is a disaster. The Dems have an NFL roster running for president. Climate Change is going to crush the planet and we're busy yelling at each other while getting nothing done. And I keep getting this eery feeling a recession is headed our way...woohoo! In personal news, we just added another addition to the Chow family, a little girl, and I got Dad life to hone in on...two is a welcomed challenge. Any advice for two kid life, let me know! Get Your Dunkin' Thursday

It's Thursday that means we have a new American Idol and it's... it's Kris Allen? Guess America still hates the "flamboyant", I smell a Clay Aiken retread. I didn't watch much of this year because it really came down to Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert for me and once I heard Kris Allen was in the final it was over in my mind. America votes for the "more likable" guy . But you know what was cool? Adam Lambert singing Queen! You could see the guitar legend Brian May drooling over the Freddy Mercury-esque vocal runs. It was rocktastic. Regardless both will have decent careers and the pie on the face of my local paper for running story after story of Adam is rather funny. Both guys have promising careers, there is always room for another Jason Mraz and America needs a Freddy Mercury . Wow. Did I really just dedicate that much analysis to American Idol?
