Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy I don't what it is about my hood, but there is always somebody banging, drilling or slamming something...heads out of the gutter! Construction everyday around me and it's loud. So that makes my free lance gig as a voice over guy just a tad bit difficult. Just a bit. I have to focus on that and then off to work tonight. Surrounded by alcohol...hmmmm...I came home smelling like brandy last night. Plum brandy. Here are your highlights: Social media giving opposition insight to Occupy Wall St? Still not getting it. Today Has Been

So fucking annoying. I've answered over 40 voice mails. It still amazes me how awful people are at leaving messages. State Your Name (spell it, if it's fucking difficult to pronounce). Your Phone Number. Your Purpose. Then hang up. Why is this so difficult? Chow!

Bad Day

I would love love love to share how bad of a day I am having, but I better not. Just know there's one thing above all else that I fucking hate, "different rules for different people." It has come up over and over again in my life. It's frustrating to say the least. I am Frank Chow and I approved this message

What We're Dealing With

Sociopaths : On Thursday, the House took up the International Protecting Girls by Preventing Child Marriage Act of 2010 . The bill would ensure that child marriage is recognized as a human rights violation, and develop comprehensive strategies to prevent such marriages around the world. The legislation seemed likely to garner strong bipartisan support in Congress, and in the Senate, it did. But last night, the bill was voted down in the House by Republicans who argued the bill is too costly and could lead to increased abortions -- gripes the measure's supporters say have no basis in reality and are just excuses to kill the popular bill. They just gave away almost $900 billion in tax cuts to the wealthy yet voted against a human rights bill that may cost $68 million! I guess some of these guys have secret marriages to children? Or at least a creepy uncle with one? How the fugg else do you rationalize this sick, twisted political game? It is disgusting. I would say I am surprised, bu...

Holiday of Payroll

Mahablog has write up explaining some of the hysteria about the payroll tax holiday (mostly around the liberal blogosphere) and how its overblown. Linkage . Well worth the read. I am Frank Chow and I approved this message

Get Your Dunkin Monday

I'm baaaaack! And still full from turkey and fixins. On top of that after days on end with my lady's niece and nephew I've contracted a cold. Thanksgiving for the win! It was a lovely time in Central Illinois, but it's also nice to be back in Chicago (where I'm not the token). I certainly didn't mind the time off. I'm not sure what I'm going to do this week. A full week of work does not sound like fun...AT ALL. How was everyone's Turkey Day? Here are your highlights: Wikileaks Reaction and everyone wants to bomb Iran This is too much Fox Nation falls for an Onion article and posts it to rally the Right Dems in their own way Cat Food Fight, Progressive Deficit Plan Congress "Back to Work" - the lame duck session has an agenda full of possibilities...who am I kidding?! Chow! P.S. The Redskins continue to disappoint.

What Would a Democrat Do?

From TPM, a chief of staff from a Democratic Senator writes what many (including myself) have been saying for a while now regarding the tax cuts for the rich : In any event, the White House and the Democratic congressional leadership made a terrible political mistake by avoiding a fight with the Republicans on this issue before the election, when it could have clearly demonstrated the hypocrisy of the GOP's constant harping about deficits, as well as their most critical concern: the "plight" of the poor rich people. Astonishingly, instead of pressing our political advantage--which was also clearly the right policy choice, as well -- we flinched (in truth, in response to the political concern of members from high-income states). Voters could have had a last and important impression about who was on their side and who wasn't, but gracious to a fault, we didn't want to anger anyone, and the result was predictably awful. Now it appears that we may well make the same m...

What Does the "D" Even Mean?

New logo same old headaches with the Democratic party. Josh Marshall rants and rages on how there is just too much stupid to combat: If the Democrats do this right they can do at least two and possibly four of the following: 1) get a good issue to take into the mid-terms, 2) sow divisions among Republicans between ones who want to duck a tough vote and those who want to hold out on principle, 3) get good policy that will help fight the recession and 4) make it vastly more difficult for the Republicans to push through extensions of the tax cuts. The first two are basically a lock. The second two depend on whether they're able to get the bill through the Senate. It's one thing if you can't take the hard votes. But if you can't even take the easy votes, what's the point? Read the rest . It's a Head.Slam.On.Desk. I am Frank Chow and I approved this message

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy So for those of you wondering. I am okay. I felt ill at work yesterday and had to skip out for the rest of the day. No I did not " hold up the Discovery Channel ", which I am sure many of my Asian-American brethren will be getting for the rest of the week. I am truly glad everyone is safe, however it was surreal (for reasons I cannot disclose). One thing I am hoping will happen is this incident will fade out like the IRS plane crasher . The news though has a tendency to pay more attention to ferners who go a little crazy (I am not watching this morning on purpose). This guy was neither left or right , despite his environmental rantings, he was deeply disturbed and it is sad that as with the V-Tech shooter that the gunman received psychiatric analysis and was deemed "normal." Oft times these disturbed individuals know their way about the system and it is both frightening and troubling. This s...

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy I will be all over the map as I was yesterday, luckily it is recess time and not much is "going on." I have currently been reading Justin Kreb's 538 Ways book and thus far I am wayyyyyyyy liberal. So liberal my feet are blue! The book itself is a fun read that offers insightful ideas to live like a liberal. I am one that didn't grow up believing liberal was a bad word although progressive comes off the tongue ever so easier. The book also has been a table talker for lady and me and we now make an effort to go to the local farmers market as well as re-use grocery bags often. What I am saying is, it really isn't that hard being just a little green. Here are your highlights: Follow the Walking Dead AMC blog You could always do something Every time I think Obama isn't doing all that I would prefer, John McCain comes in a reminds me how bad it could have been . How to Lose in 2010

Ignoring the most pressing issue of 2010. It's not the war in Afghanistan, it's not whether or not Obama is manly enough, it's not the Arizona hate law, it's not Lindsay Lohan's red bull stained panties, it's not the BP Oil Spill, it's not Rand Paul or Rupaul, it's not Jersey Shore's mass appeal, it's not Joe (insert generic last name here), it's not some fake pimp or ACORN, it's not WH Dinner party crashers, it's not John McCain's or Sarah Palin's tweets, it's not gay marriage, it's not who won American Idol (although that is vitally important to our well-being), it's not the deficit and it certainly is not the teabaggers. It is JOBS! I have been ranting about this endlessly and I know I am not the only one , however the Democrats don't get it. The message is being lost and they aren't doing enough to fix it. The saddest part is this ultimately will lead to one big awful outcome in November. Booman : Unf...

Get Your Dunkin Friday

Man, everyone is out at the parade for the Stanley Cup all ready to celebrate in the glory of the Blackhawks. Too bad I am inside and cannot attend, but for everyone else HOORAY GO HAWKS! This weekend is kind of up in the air. The lady and I were planning to go boating, however it looks like it is going to be raining for the next ooooohhhhhh month or so! Luckily the World Cup starts today and it is going to be awesome . USA! USA! USA! (three times is the best kind of cheer) I hoping for a hell of a scrap between England and the good ole US of A. We should be able to get out of our group with few bruises, but England is the match that counts. Tomorrow there will be blood on the pitch! (ok not really, but it makes it so much more melodramatic, speaking of melodramatic, we will see a lot of it during the Cup. those soccer pretty boys are a bunch of actors) Here are your highlights: Wikileaks founder is being hunted by the U.S. The new strategy for the GOP's repeal of healthcare: Who ...

Unmitigated Rage

James Kwak over at Baseline Scenario defines rage with this rant: Wall Street CEOs like to think they are the adults, the big men in the room, the ones who know how the world works. Well, you know what? They screwed up their own banks, the financial system, and the economy like a bunch of two-year-olds. Every single major bank would have failed in late 2008 without massive government intervention — because of wounds that were entirely self-inflicted. (Citigroup: holding onto hundreds of billions of dollars of its own toxic waste. Bank of America: paying $50 billion for an investment bank that would have failed within three days. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs: levering up without a stable source of funding. Etc.) The financial crisis should have put to rest for a generation the idea that the big boys on Wall Street know what they’re doing and the politicians in Washington are a bunch of amateurs. Yet somehow the bankers came out of it with the same unshakable belief in their own per...

Sullivan Wants Heads

Sully is so shrill : We're told no heads will roll at today's review of anti-terror policy after the undie-bomber near-miss. Can you imagine any private sector company failing on such a core element of its enterprise and no one being fired? Me neither. In this, Obama is in danger of becoming Bush. Yes, I understand that fixing the problems is paramount. And I understand the need to find out exactly who failed us and why and how to prevent that in future. And I can see why immediate firings may not be feasible. But if there is not a period of house-cleaning in which those individuals who failed to do basic due diligence on a case that is close to identical to one that occurred eight years ago, then we will know that Obama is the same old same old. Same old, same old? Same as Bush? Uh-oh...I smell dissent. I am sure when a failed terror plot by an underwear bomber came to Obama's attention the first thing he thought of was "who am I going to blame for this? Show me some ...

This is AMERICA!!! AIGeezlaweez

Image
AIGees look out this is AMERICAAAA!!! The rage is abound and people want answers, well not real answers just who to blame. Is it Dodd? Geithner? Obama? Naw it was the same ole culprit G-Dub and friends ! No it was... The Klingons! The Sith! The Republidemopendents! It makes no difference. This bonus outrage has become such a wet dream for the media which has been foaming at the mouth to spin something completely on its head for I don't know SINCE THE MAN GOT IN OFFICE! We had old guy Watergate claiming "scandal" when it turned out rich people forget how rich they are...or something. And now we have RAGE!!! Calm down. Even I, the ragiest find this whole AIG thing to be too late. What we are dealing with and what seems to be becoming clearer each day is. America has 80% control of AIG making us now part of their criminality. It's like we caught the kid with hand in the cookie jar, then we help him get the cookie take a big bite and hand him the rest. Quick One

Image
I don't pat people on the job for mediocrity, so the same goes for George Bush. He said he protected America , THAT WAS HIS JOB!! But oddly enough we are still in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Not to mention rising tensions with Iran. And hate to mention it 9/11 did happen. He reacted, he wasn't proactive. I am done with people trying to give this man an out. Frank is pissed and will now go to the local gym to watch hotties on treadmills. It's not creepy. Don't judge, if I said I was going to my home to watch my fish tank. Nothing. See my logic? I know it's brilliant, men everywhere will adopt this method of Zen. You're welcome.

New Nemesis Should Have Always Been a Nemesis

Image
This is the epitome of nemesis, if you do not know who she is her name is Michelle Malkin and she my friends is evil. I never paid her any mind because for the longest time I thought she was Michelle Kwan or Kristy Yamaguchi, but boy was I wrong! Asians we must unite against her with the sword of Grey Skull because a woman of this evilicity can only be struck down with my help and He-Man. Now I don't want physical harm to this woman, cuz she is kind of hot, but she calls herself AMERICAN, makes Ann Coulter look less crazy and thinks Japanese interment camps were A-OK! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??!!! Scary, last time I was this scared by an Asian my grandmother found I occasionally dated white women and by occasionally I mean allll the time. Wooha! But seriously she is on the list so to refresh your memory here are my Nemesis's'is's. Bill O'Reilly Michelle Malkin (the scary woman in this post) Stephen Colbert Keith Olbermann Michael Jackson Ann Coulter Sean Hannity Chri...
