For essentially what is a one day trip to Santa Monica is harder than if I was staying the week. Normally I would throw in my go-to shirts, socks and etc, let the chips fall as they may. Boom, I'd be done. Not so much right now. What I'm saying is, is it okay to pack three outfits for one day? I'm not sure what is on the itinerary, but I feel it is necessary to have something for the morning, day and evening on Saturday. I figured since I am going to start Insanity why don't I post some insane fashion? Seems like a rationale idea, however I did not expect the ridonkulous I would find. I don't know if these designers meant for their "looks" to be mocked, but now that they have I am sure you can chalk it up to me being out of touch or "just not getting it." Riiiiiiight. In search of the perfect khaki chinos I have been hopping from different retailers and designers. I am still not sold on which one is the best fit for me. I am still not certain what is the best looking chino out there. However, Eunice Lee designer and owner of Unis believes she has nailed it. GQ highlighted Unis and Eunice Lee, a couple of months ago in their " Best New Designers in America " (two of which were Asian-American). The video below includes a short interview with Eunice Lee as she shares her inspiration and love for the chino. From the Sartorialist : The date is January 3, 1954. Pictured in the center is my grandfather Yukio (known to me as Ji-chan, Japanese for Grandpa). My dad (pictured on left) is 9 here, his brother a couple years older. The three of them are getting ready to leave Japan for the first time and emigrate to California. My Japanese-American grandmother (born/raised in Calif.) had earlier left her family in Japan in order to find a job, a place to live, and get settled here. Then she sent over for her husband and kids to come and join her in the States. This photo of Ji-chan reminds me of a Japanese Indiana Jones with the leather jacket and fedora, ready to go on an adventure in a far-off land. He always looked sharp when he went out. Ji-chan was always a bit of a mystery to me as there was a language barrier (he spoke only Japanese) and he was a quiet man. But I really loved him. He would sneak behind my grandmother's back and smoke cigarettes in the garage or in the car. I'd always...

I am going to head to an outdoor mall this weekend and pick up some new wear. These looks come from Nice Collective were brought to my attention by my old friend D. I don’t know about walking around making the gazing eyes like these dudes do here…but some intriguing pieces that can be used in many different ways. Shorts do just fine, but if it is you I suggest going for it (unless of course you are shorter, then just wear pants). A fan of each piece on its own. Not a fan of Duran Duran inspired haircuts. With jeans. Not capris. Or as I call them Manpris. The leg at an angle says I don't conform to the rules of standing. This look was rejected for an alternate Jedi outfit in the Phantom Menace. I have been mulling over where and when to start my Fashion blogging. After my vaca in San Diego I am in the mood to start sharing what's happening and what looks are inspiring to me. So why not Friday? Makes sense, right? Everyone is getting ready for the weekend. Time to get out and rock some new digs. I used to work at a retailer near Capital Hill, the uniform is simple; power ties, basic shirts, and power suits. That is it and a detriment to fashion. Hopefully this will give me a chance to maybe call out the perpetrators ex. Chuck Grassley's red vest and give insight to the stuff you can rock. Hopefully I will be able to do this on the regular.
