It's my birthday week and it's a busy one. Work has me hopping around to different places for training. Get Your Dunkin Friday

Here we are again. Back to Friday already. This month is moving at lightening speed and is shaping up to be more fun than expected. The wife and I were invited to a large art expo this coming Wednesday. It's full of celebs, art and free booze. Then the wife is headed to Seattle and Phoenix for the first time on work, so that's sad for me since I can't go, but awesome for her. I'm still writing, meeting and acting away. 2013 let's get this ball rolling! Here are your highlights: The Debt Ceiling Battle looks to be over I have no words The NRA ever classy says it's Obama's fault that he receives so many death threats This man shops at JCPenney with an arsenal Featherweight Showdown Those annoying scanners in the airport, RIP Chow!

I love our health care system. It's so awesome and by awesome I mean awesomely bad. As you may recall I had to go the hospital just before Thanksgiving and I didn't have health insurance at the time because 1) my job didn't provide it 2) my lady's employer said we had to live together for six months before I would be eligible. So I owed the hospital for their services, okay I understand that. I set up a payment plan because it was a big chunk of money and since December I've been slowly chipping away at it. Yesterday they sent me a "Final Notice" for my time. Needless to say I'm pissed, I'll be calling them today, probably be on hold for hours until someone figures out which blackhole my money has been going into. FML. We need single payer health care, this is ridick. Other than that everything is rosy. We got to Skype with Paddy K and his lovely wife, talked wedding, booze and our current stupid political culture. It's only 50 days away! Her...

Get Your Dunkin Monday

This weekend, despite working everyday, was great. The lady and I celebrated three years and six months of our relationship. We decided on a whim to go to the restaurant in the movie "I Love You Man" James' Beach . It was a quirky place with great fish tacos and nice cocktails, exactly what we both wanted. In our first six months in California my lady has been more than amazing, I cannot tell you how grateful I am...enough of the mushy stuff. Today or tomorrow I get my stitches out, I helluva nervous. The oddest sensation I've ever felt was the act of string going through my skin. I have no doubt the reverse will be equally uncomfortable. Don't forget to listen to the latest episode of the TATPodcast. We're super psyched to be back and bringing you music, booze and the occasional political commentary. Here are your highlights: More winds in SoCal , look out! Just an observation, but since these winds come every year...shouldn't SoCal be better prepared? Ka...

Mayweather v. Ortiz Reactions

Image
(Getty Images) It was an eventful evening in boxing. I was just landing into LAX after our trip to Chicago, so I missed the fight. I did, however follow the updates via Twitter and then later saw the fight in its entirety on YouTube. The best way to sum up the fight would be to "Protect yourself at all times!" Mayweather retaliated to a dirty tactic by Ortiz, legally, and Ortiz paid. It wasn't the ideal ending, but it surely was comical and almost poetic; Ortiz can only blame himself as many others said. The only fight I'm interested in for Mayweather is Pacquiao. I'm not going to analyze that fight till it's made, but damn, after last night I think more than ever it'll be fun to watch. And yes it has to be made, I don't believe it's about either fighter being scared, I think it's about money. It's always been about money and when Pacquiao takes care of business (unfinished at that) in November , the fight will happen or both men will have ...

Here are your highlights: Bombing in Oslo It's not a spending problem, Boehner gets testy The unemployed are still unemployed Senate blocks stupidly named bill made by the stupid House Republicans AKIRA live action movie still alive? This weekend is a boxing weekend! Amir Khan will face Zab Judah for the junior welterweight title! Khan showed resilience against Marcos Maidana and I think he'll have to do the same against Judah. The southpaw stance might be the greatest weapon for Judah in this fight, but I see Khan eeking out the decision win. Chow!

I got me an extra large Dunkin today. Last night I made shredded chicken and the lady and I had some margaritas with some bad ass chicken tacos. Cinco de Mayo! Needless to say a food coma needs a shot from the Dunkster. In other news the future in-laws are coming into town for the night, so we'll be hitting up their local stomping ground Harry Caray's . Phew made it. Been a long and tiring week, but this weekend we get to celebrate the birth of my lady!! Yes Monday is her birthday! Everyone send awesome, hippie, happy vibes her way, she's earned it. Manny Pacquiao v. Antonio Margarito Tonight!

Hoping Manny puts on a clinic. Margarito's defense is simply too open for the speed and power of Manny. I don't think the weight differential will matter much. Manny is fighting at the weight he's comfortable at which means he'll be light on his feet. So expect the fight to look similar to the Mosley v. Margarito fight, but perhaps ending sooner. I am looking forward to catching it on the night out...we'll see if that happens....regardless PAC-MAN!!!!! I am Frank Chow and I approved this message

Friday ya'll! It is a muggy day out and I am in a muggy mood. I had to drop off Lil Sis Frank at the airport before dawn. Swore I was going to get jumped by some Vampires. Didn't happen, but I saw a homeless guy sleeping on a bench near my lady's place. Close enough. I didn't get much sleep, so doubling up on the coffee is going to be key. I don't have much else to add that's how out of it I am...except RAGE THE EFF ON WEINER!!! More of this please! This is what gets Frank juiced and jonesing to punch out juiceheads for acting a fool on the boardwalk. RAGE against, lying and conniving Republicans on the House floor. Someone has to call out these asshats. Heading to the boat this weekend should be fantastic. Here are your highlights: A Democrat's Ethics Probe vs. A Republican's Criminal Probe ...wonder which one you hear about more on teh oh so librul mediduh What is going to happen to the Bush Tax Cuts? Get Your Dunkin Wednesday

Drinking Liberally last night was full on liberal rage. It was fantastic. Beers clanked. Voices raised. I am almost certain someone puked in or around our vicinity before we even arrived (gotta love those hawks fans ). All in all an at times heated discussion which inevitably lead to the conclusion that we are fucked. As a country. As citizens in this country. Teh crazy is too ridiculous and unfortunately Obama is not the trans-formative president needed to combat the onslaught of nuts. (insert sigh here) But we did have a jolly good time! Hooray for that and no worries we will stage rage the f on while consuming copious amounts of alcohol. Here are your highlights: Progressives are making headway in Financial Reform . Bout time. Congrats to Chef Rick Bayless , who will be preparing the meals for the next White House state dinner. The lady and I were lucky enough to visit his restaurant Topolobampo in April . Amazing. Did Obama choose himself for the Supreme Court? Rep. Steve King give...

Get Your Dunkin Monday

Wow. I got a great lady! This weekend was full of early birthday surprises from my lady. We decided to head to teh IKEA and teh mall (suburbia how scary) on Saturday where she decided to purchase a couple of early gifts for me. Pretty awesome. By the time night rolled around, I was scuttling about attempting to figure out how I would watch the Mayweather v. Mosley fight. LADY CAME THROUGH AGAIN. She allowed me to order the pay-per-view, then a couple of apartment buddies came up to watch and she ordered pizza. We all sipped booze, watched (and yelled) the fight while laughing about WWE and the Miz. Fantastic. I mean what can I say for me the weekend was perfect thanks to her. Can you tell I am easily satisfied? Here are your highlights: Police seek man behind Times Square attempting bombing I have said it before, conservatives don't have a good sense of humor and either does the press corps The Monday Mailbag after Mayweather beats Mosley Happy APA Heritage Month In a F-U moment, C...

Mayweather v. Mosley

Tomorrow night two of my favorite fighters in boxing will finally meet in the ring in Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley . I have read every article possible and every analysis and I will certainly after writing this change my opinion the very last minute up to the fight. I am torn for one, second there are many variables that contribute to this blockbuster match up. Regardless I am going to give you a prediction as promised as much as it pains me. A look at Mayweather : Mayweather is hated. I get that, however it is a persona and despite what other writers have experienced from the man himself, I do think it is pure politics. Putting that aside the intangibles are in favor of Mayweather. I give a slight edge to him in speed. When it comes to ring generalship Mayweather can make a ring appear much larger with his defensive capabilities and slickness. He also has the favor of being the younger of the two fighters. Throughout his entire career when the spotlight has been on him Mayweather...
