Last night was great on many levels. I was treated to a wonderful dinner by my lady and then we watched the President give an impressive speech that had both of us moved. It was nice to sit down and witness history together. I was to be honest rather surprised at how upfront and honest Obama was toward the GOP misinformation campaign. The overall reaction out there is that the speech was received well. For us progressive/liberal/commie/pinko scum that is a good thing. It is important that the President offered an explanation of the public option, "it won't hurt you we swear, you idiots" would have been better in my opinion, but that is why he is an eloquent speaker and I am a raging blogger. The next couple of weeks will be interesting to watch...just glad the President finally called the asshats out.
Here are your highlights:
The Village has spoken wanting a public option and coverage for the uninsured is a fetish....slamheadondesk
Justice Sonia Sotomayor gets in the mix right away and good for her
Buying Economics, the Fed reared its ugly head
Simply stunning and beatiful black and white photography
One thing if you got the watch the speech was the squirming and unruly behavior of the Republicans, with Rep. Joe Wilson (SC) taking douchebag of the night honor awards. I know the President is supposed to say he wants to speak with reasonable people, but the GOP for years and years have done their best to destroy facts and reason. It is clear the adults in the room weren't the ones waving fake bill proposals and shouting their hatred for illegal immigrants.
Chow!
