Get Your Dunkin Wednesday

Long day ahead. Working the closing shift at the liquor store. I still feel a bit under the weather, I blame Chicago. Let's do this because really I need to drink some tea and shove a ton of Vitamin C in my body. Here are your highlights: How to clear your Google history The Vaginal Ultrasound Smokescreen Hey Snowe, you go, the Republican Party would have kicked you out, you know! Romney, um, it doesn't look good Whoops, the GOP just as scandalous as the ever Can we bribe people to have more kids? Mmm, North Korea no nukes Chow!

Teh Funny Writes Itself

Not only is Obama teh devil and hates teh Jeebus , but also too and what have you, he is pushing the most aggressive liberal policies ever and destroying the country . ON TOP OF THAT, he is guilty of being completely incapable of performing his basic duties as president, a "new-hire college graduate" and surrounded by lazies . It has become increasingly difficult to write satire these days. I can't tell if the right-wing in America is attempting to out crazy comedians in order to render the jokes useless or the scarier and more likely; they have lost their minds and now fully embrace it. Back to the gggggrind. I guess people didn't purchase enough booze last week because my hours have been cut short. Doh. I do have an interview though today, so that hopefully will lead to something promising. Franky needs income. We're getting married in four months, crazy, and I need to get a sweet set-up for the wedding. I'll be posting about the choice when it happens, that and trying to lose a couple of  L Bs for the big day. Gotta get that six pack! Apologies folks for the late post. I was flying over the country this morning. The lady and I after 10 days in Chicago are back in good ole Santa Monica. Unfortunately the sun didn't greet us here when we landed. Oh well, it's better than snow, right?! I've got a busy week ahead of me; work, interview, recording skits and hopefully writing a ton. After watching the Oscars last night I was inspired to try to push through some recent lulls in my writing. Hopefully Hollywood is ready for "the Artist 2: More Arty" (title a work in progress). Here are your highlights: Hoyer working for "deficit reduction" , WE WANT JOBS YOU IDIOT! What is Ron Paul up to? Mitt Romney pushed to reject his best accomplishment In Arizona they're all about conservative compassion  Your Liberal Media , if this is any indicator of how the election will go...Obama better be prepared to bring everything he's got. Snow!!! It's here and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere. Sweet Home Chicago . Although it looks pretty, it's cold and the lady and I are hunkered down in the house. I've got Pre-Canna homework to do, have to get it done before Saturday morning. An essay. Yes, this guy has to pen an essay...let's do this! Have a great weekend ya'll! Here are your highlights: Gay Marriage in Maryland Into the future, Google doing it again Greece losing its country Remember when Obama ran in '08? I sure do and he never had to do this... A little bit of hope for your Friday. An amazing gift for a friend with cancer (with help from the internet ). Chow!

Yesterday were our tastings for both the desserts and the wedding dinner. Wow. I'm still full. Overall, it was a great experience finally trying out menu items, figuring out what we liked and didn't like...surprisingly enough I enjoyed the dessert tasting the most. I'm no sweets guy, but trying six different cakes and a ton of cookies was a heckuva way to spend a Wednesday. It all seems to be coming together quite well. We also were allowed, a last minute walk around of the event space for our reception. It was our first time seeing the venue at night and it was breathtaking. I think it's safe to say, the party is going to rock! Here are your highlights: Watch and vote for "What's Your Story" at the White House site, the finalist all have such amazing stories to tell, enjoy! Specious Free Exercise Arguments Can’t Hide the War on Contraception Joyce Manor to tour This is infuriating in how silly the argument is, Blaming Minorities shouldn't...

So we're back in Chicago! And we've already come to the conclusion that we've become "soft." It's cold here, but our old Chicagoan-selves would be calling the current weather "warm." It's funny how after only 7 months in Santa Monica I have no desire to relocate somewhere cold if I don't have to...no seriously. The first weekend of Pre-Canna is complete, I'll spare you the details. We did meet some lovely people though, and it's great to be thinking in four months I'll be a married man. Here are your highlights: The new war is on the GIRL SCOUTS ! Let the "too much regulation" crowd have an inch they'll send us right back to economic downfall Will Obama win by a landslide? What not to do, Greece HAM , your must read of the day by Drifty Chow!

Yesterday was good times. I actually had an audition where I played basketball for most of the day. Not too bad. If I get the gig, I'll be acting across a well-known basketball player (not Lin)...which would be awesome. We'll see. Everyone yesterday and I mean everyone was joking about Jeremy Lin. Linsanity! It's a great phenomena happening right now, I hope the kid makes the right choices and has a long career in the NBA. We head to Chicago tomorrow, I can't wait. It'll be nice to run around planning for our wedding and hanging out with old pals. As for today, I've got work to do! Here are your highlights: Speaking of Jeremy Lin, Is China censoring Linsanity?! Ruh roh Romney The GOP's terrible transportation bill Obama's budget of values Yup, that's it change of plans. We're having an ADVENTURE WEDDING!! Chow!

"Wow. Whitney Houston." That's what I said when I first received the news on Saturday. Another icon, her life tragically ended too soon. I kept thinking to myself about specific moments in my life when her songs played and how it immediately took me back. What's astounding about Whitney Houston is that world-wide hundreds of millions of people could do the same. That's Whitney Houston's legacy. I still remember her rendition of the national anthem before the Super Bowl. We heard nothing like it before and nothing even close since, it was how the sung was to be sung. It's always sad to hear about an icon's passing, her unfortunate decline, but I'll remember Whitney Houston for her voice and presence. One that artists long after I'm gone will still be attempting to emulate without coming close. Here are your highlights: Punked and Clueless , is the GOP really going to drag out the contraception battle? Mitt Romney is a spoiled child who ...

(in case you missed it) Alright, so I should have time today to edit and bring you the epic TATPodcast 2011 Best of Episode. Apologies for being so behind, but this episode is a monster and I've been working like a dog. Next week the lady and I will be in Chicago for wedding schtuff. I'm excited to get back, oh and enjoy restaurant week! We're hitting up and old favorite Blue13 and trying out a Sable Kitchen & Bar...maybe one more if we have time. Gonna hate wearing a winter coat though. Chi-City! Here are your highlights: Bishops to over-reach?  At this point, and it has been for some time, it's clear the Catholic Bishops are more than a religious organization. They should be treated as such. Hey Congress, don't mess up the economy!  Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America"? *Headtodesk Yup, Rick Santorum is crazy A little laugh Chow!

From the Mix Tape - the Promise Ring

Image
I've revisited this album Wood/Water recently. I kind of stumbled upon it while listening to other bands of the like, Benton Falls, Hot Rod Circuit, Elliott and Christie Front Drive. I recall when it was released initially blowing it off because "how dare they not be happy sounding?!" Timing with albums, such as this, I guess is everything. I appreciate it much more today then I would have then. There's a melancholy throughout the album I'm drawn to, it's not completely hopeless and that bit of optimism appeals to me. Enjoy this lovely live rendition of "Become One Anything One Time." This might be my favorite lead singer with a speech impediment. The Promise Ring I am Frank Chow and I approved this message

Welp, I'm working a double today. So lets do this! Here are your highlights: Romney Rockier than you might Think What's really going on with the White House and contraception? Rick Santorum wins and the race is a bit more interesting   - I don't see him winning the nomination, but if he does...it would be disastrous for the GOP No Obama is not a hypocrite in regards to PACs Um, Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man not too bad Chow!

Ruining Marriage

Image
In amongst the Prop8 ruling in California, we get this about the decline of marriage rates from Paul Krugman . Krugman goes onto explain that what really may be going on here is the decline of earned income (he has a graph too). Should we really be surprised that young men, confronting the reality that they won’t earn anything near as much in real terms as their fathers did — and that they will be even further from having what society sees as an adequate income, because even Adam Smith acknowledged the importance of social norms in defining prosperity — don’t marry and raise families the way the previous generation did? So what's really ruining marriage in America, teh evil icky gay or perhaps terrible economic policies? I'd have to go with that latter. Over the years, we've had policies that have hindered men and women from committing to a relationship because they lack the "adequate income" to start and raise a family. It's a tough decision, one th...

Last night I got my hands on the PS Vita . The latest handheld genius by Playstation. Not only does it have some of the best graphics I have ever seen on a handheld, it has touchscreen interaction. The Giants did it again! Incredible, but sadly predictable, that's what they did all year...except against the Redskins. This obviously means the Redskins are the Ultimate Super Bowl Champions for defeating the Giants twice in the season! It was clear not having a healthy Gronkowski and a poor secondary killed the Patriots and a few crucial drops at the end hurt their chances late, but Eli did his Eli thing. He was cool as a cucumber back there and Manningham made a phenomenal catch to seal the win. Exciting game which is really all I wanted to see. It was a heckuva weekend for sports, Boxing, UFC, controversy? A great start to 2012! Here are your highlights: Five Political Ads Featuring Asians Dancing On America’s Grave aka Racist Boxing Round-Up by Dougie A reminder: They *$%^ hate you I keep saying this Ron Paul is a loon, Something Something Ron Paul This week in nerd Chow!

I'm trying my best to find time to write some rage, but I've been working this week. Can't complain about work, can complain about how little I make ;) Luckily I have Super Bowl Sunday off, probably get some dim sum, hang out with fam and watch the Giants face off against the Patriots. Should be a good game no matter what...please god be a good game... Here are your highlights: With NFL Players Support, Occupy Super Bowl might just happen Komen, the odd VP behind the Planned Parenthood ridiculousness Bruce Lee as Spiderman Go figure, The Public likes Populism Patriots doing things a bit differently in preparation Mayweather v Cotto , a couple years late, but better than expected...now will people believe Bob Arum is the problem? (More Shameless Self-Promotion) Well in the middle of the night, I woke up and my head hated me. I never used to get really bad headaches, but probably due to stress I get them every now and again. Last night was one of them. I feel like I went 12 rounds with Tyson this morning. I'm thinking it's time to do the whole doctor visit. It's been some time. Here are your highlights: Obama, no trouble raising money This is why I am suspect of home-schooling, child asks for Maryland lawmakers to vote down same-sex marriage FOR HER BIRTHDAY Komen for the Cure...except not Mitt Romney "not concerned about the very poor" , WELL I'LL BE I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT THAT Anything that references Lost Boys (the movie) gets a link from me!
