At a Total Loss

I've spent most of my day working my ass off. I don't get paid much for the amount of work I put in, it's frustrating and I'm quite exhausted. (Apologies for my time away of late) So when I arrived at my humble abode tonight I had every intention to sit and type. I wanted to write tonight about education in America, about television and writing Asian-American characters; I wanted to write about affirmative action and white privilege, about the election and being a part of the "other" 47%. Alas, tonight I won't write about any of those things. Instead, I'm stuck on music. Music that inspires, challenges and in a way haunts me at this moment. I say haunt because when you listen to an album sometimes you come to a realization that you've yet to reach your potential. It challenges you because when you hear its intricacies you cringe at the thought of what more you could be doing at this very instant. You hear every note, the subtlest tones and each h...

It's been an odd and busy week already. I've started Insanity again, my hip seems healed enough and although I'm not going full 100% it feels good to be back at it. The weather has cooled off this week as well. I miss Fall in Virginia, but I can't really complain about beach living. Speaking of beach living we visited Manhattan Beach the other day and kind of fell in love. Now just to convince all of friends to rent a home with us for the summer... Here are your highlights: Syria, it's out of control Houses by freeways are bad for kids Obama still has his support NFC East rookies among the league's best Deep deep Bonddad thoughts on the election TREKKIE COOKIES!! Get Your Dunkin Monday

Well I'm back! After a much needed vacation, the lady and I safely returned to Santa Monica. It was a great week. We started in Temecula, headed to Stone Brewing Company, then stayed in La Jolla for the rest of the week. We even got to hop in a kayak and tour the coastline of La Jolla. I'm a bit tanner, a bit chubbier and so much happier. It was just what the doctor ordered. Now it's back to the grind and making it in Hollywood. Here are your highlights: Vote These Bastards Out CEOs are overpaid and it's hurting average workers Redskins lose again, one thing is clear RG3 can't do it alone Kick-Ass 2, the revival of Jim Carrey? Romney rigging the game Not good signs on the economic front , maybe we should elect a Congress that does something... Chow!

Lots of people getting hidden on Facebook today. If I read one more comment asking for war in Libya or Egypt, or asking for some kind of retaliation I might just throw my Timeline through the friggin wall. Have we learned nothing from 9/11 or did we forget? Or do we all now think the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were all because of 9/11? Don't answer that, I might get depressed. Instead I'll listen to happy songs. Here are your highlights: Romney's classless response to the Attack on the Libyan Embassy A double downgrade? The IPhone 5 revealed Don't tell anyone, but Obamacare is already working CTUStrike! It's time to start watching the predictions closely, Five Thirty Eight Marc Ambinder on Libya Chow!

I've already said my piece about 9-11 many of times. As I get older though, I've become less jaded and more disappointed. There'll be tons of tributes on tv, celebrities and news anchors recalling what they went through and felt, there'll be divisive rhetoric from the right-wing and people justifying two wars without mentioning one was completely unrelated. We're no more united today than we were back then. So yeah, I'm disappointed. This election gives us a chance to start making more things right. Hopefully, we do. Here are your highlights: Biden makes a classic visit to PA. firefighters Chicago schools, the struggles in the system Animated GIFs tell the story of the Fed and the jobs crisis Reminder: We're but small specs in the sky Power Rankings, the Skins make a big jump Chow!

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS! What can I say that hasn't already been said ? I was lucky enough to catch most of the first half at Joxers Daly's in Culver City. It is a full on Redskins haven there and it was like being at home. RGIII was so poised, so accurate, so bad-ass, that it's hard not to fully buy into the hype. The kid crushed it in his debut and the team had an entirely different swagger. It'll be interesting to see how this season plays out, how the team will handle adversity and what won't RGIII accomplish. As of right now, I'm riding high with Redskins pride. It's the dawn of a new era. HTTR! Here are your highlights: At this point, it should be expected the GOP won't change a bit if Obama is reelected The Company Romney Keeps Ladies: Wine purses... First Listen: Grizzly Bear Rahm Emanuel still a colossal prick, support the Chicago Teacher Union The negative bounce for Romney , a first Welcome back to the blogosphere Marc Ambinde...

A small quake late last night spooked me. I was deep in a writing session, headphones on, (working on a new project) and the initial shake was bigger than what I've felt thus far. Normally quakes build and then shake, this started with a shake. I thought it was someone coming up from behind me at first. Luckily, it was just an earthquake. I'm working all weekend, so you folks enjoy yourselves. Here are your highlights: Song Premiere: the Calm Blue Sea "Mary Ann Nichols" Unemployment by the numbers , not what we'd like to hear. Maybe we should elect a guy who ships jobs overseas, wants to give tax cuts to the rich and love offshore accounts... I doubt know about you the tone at the DNC is much different than that of the RNC. It seems the DNC actually likes their candidate. Gov. Deval Patrick owned the night with an amazing speech, someone get him a PR person stat. I've been battling an eye twitch. From my studies, it's most likely due to two things 1) stress and 2) sleep deprivation. It's been bothering me now for over a week...I correct that statement it's been annoying the hell out of me for over a week. If anyone has any remedies other than the obvious SLEEP YOU MORON, let me know. I hope everyone had a lovely Labor Day. We went to Malibu Wines overlooking the hills and mountains of Malibu. It was definitely an experience to remember, we even checked out the Biggest Loser Ranch sort of, we took a poke about. Today is my last day off before another weekend in retail madness. Here are your highlights: No Scribbling on the Etch-a-Sketch On Labor Day thank the Unions Eric Cantor tweets the new GOP line on Labor Day "thanks employers!" Yeah they don't get it.
