The Royal Bush
Glenn Greenwald calls it like he sees it:
We're obviously hungry to live with royal and aristocratic families so we should really just go ahead and formally declare it:
Bush daughter Jenna Hager becomes 'Today' reporter
NBC's "Today" show has hired someone with White House experience as a new correspondent — former first daughter Jenna Hager, the daughter of former President George W. Bush. . . . She "just sort of popped to us as a natural presence, comfortable" on the air, [Executive Producer Jim] Bell said. Hager will work out of NBC's Washington bureau.
They should convene a panel for the next Meet the Press with Jenna Bush Hager, Luke Russert, Liz Cheney, Megan McCain and Jonah Goldberg, and they should have Chris Wallace moderate it. They can all bash affirmative action and talk about how vitally important it is that the U.S. remain a Great Meritocracy because it's really unfair for anything other than merit to determine position and employment. They can interview Lisa Murkowski, Evan Bayh, Jeb Bush, Bob Casey, Mark Pryor, Jay Rockefeller, Dan Lipinksi, and Harold Ford, Jr. about personal responsibility and the virtues of self-sufficiency. Bill Kristol, Tucker Carlson and John Podhoretz can provide moving commentary on how America is so special because all that matters is merit, not who you know or where you come from. There's a virtually endless list of politically well-placed guests equally qualified to talk on such matters.
By this point in time, we should all be used to it. I saw this on the tube this morning and was immediately in ragetastic mode. To pretend that this is even normal shows how the Village and the Beltway completely lack self-awareness. It is the same people that "debate" torture. "Discuss" death panels and subject the American public to the nepotism and royal family mentality of our elite society like everything is "a-okay."
To put it bluntly to pretend everything these Villagers and their like accomplish is whole heartedly earned and not without a royal rub off is a fuggin insult. Fugg them and their ponies. While people are losing their jobs and states are botching funds to help the unemployed; it is always nice to know if you are the daughter of the former President who authorized torture, a fake war, and violated numerous powers of the executive branch, you can get a spot on day time teevee with a round of applause.

It was a cool fall weekend in Chicago this weekend. Friday kicked off the weekend with a bang, as the lady and I enjoyed dinner with friends and new friends at the delicious Chilam Balam. It is a new BYOB joint with a refined approach to Mexican cuisine, lots of small plates, lots of awesome. We took this weekend to be domestic and visited the mall, enjoyed a burger from Red Robin and hit up IKEA. How I survived, I have no effin clue. On the way though we read about the passing of DJ AM, it was sad to hear a talented dj who recently dodged death pass on. So above is a little musimix of his I found... enjoy. This week is short for me. Gonna take a vacation and go boating with the lady, SUPER EXCITED. It will be nice to get away for one last taste of summer.

Mayor Daley Will Rise Above the Meters
"I'll be the first to admit that we totally screwed up the way it was implemented. I want us to do better -- and we will," -Dar Mayor
Mayor Daley gets away with another with a softball apology on towards his ultimate goal to glory the Daleympics. The $520 million shortfall is of no consequence. The lines of the unemployed, the constant gun violence, a broken school system, the ranking of 45th worst place to get a job is all of no consquence. You see he is the Dar Mayor, the ruler of all that is Chicago. And so he will continue his lies, deceit and back door politics and why not, it was only the parking meters?

So I was stuck at work last night so my brain is wrapped around about ten different ragetastic topics that get my blood bubbling. More to come. But before that one last video, Ted Kennedy making the case for a hike in minimum wage and a truly poignant take down of the Republicans in the Senate. The Liberal Lion was truly one of a kind even with the family tree he had. It can't be said enough we need more like him. Tonight the lady and I are having drinks and Mexican with some friends and then off to another raucous and riotous show. If you get a chance, go to Berlin (wink)

Now this is cruelity to animals
I have a joke to tell you, it's a realllll knee slapper. "You see there this guy and he is president and it would be great if we got to tag him like we do the wolves during the hunt! Well after reflecting about Ted Kennedy for much of the day, I went home and chilled with the lady. One thing that kept coming back into my head was all Kennedy did for civil rights and as an Asian-American, I can thank him for a lot. On a personal note I started some more design classes so expect many a photoshop and illustrator awesomeness sooner than later. Why? Because I'm Franky and I rock. Speaking of rock, the Get Up Kids are above and yes they rock. The best story of my indie scene days was when my best friend, brother and buddy drove 16 hrs. to Chicago without tickets to see the Get Up Kids, Alkaline Trio, and Saves the Day. We sat outside the day of the show with a pizza box that said, "Drove 16 hrs. from D.C. need four tickets." Within 5 minutes we had tickets and saw one of the best shows of our lives.

GOP Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) is looking for the "great white hope." Well at least she went ahead and said it, she has retracted the statement since, but it wasn't too convincing referring to the current state of the Republican party as "dark ." Wingnuttia Love Fest, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck
FOX News' Glenn Beck is doing an extraordinary job this week walking America behind the scenes of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and outlining who is actually running the White House.
Monday night he asked us to invite one friend to watch; tonight I invite all my friends to watch.
-Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin. The be all and end of political Facebook relevancy with her death panels and roaming hills of Alaska has now spoken and all must listen!
WATCH GLENN BECK
Sarah Palin now returns to her heli where she can pot shot wolves from high above to leave the wolves for dead. Sarah Palin then turns water into moonshine gets schmammered and cozy with Todd to put her legs up in front of the one eyed monster. The teevee is powerful and Sarah Palin implores you to...
WATCH GLENN BECK
Sarah Palin will now with the magic of main stream media stupid get all 33 or so advertisers back on the Glenn Beck show. Because (wink, wink, wink) Obama and his conspiracy to take down one of the leaders of Wingnuttia will not go unnoticed and Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann and all the troops will save Glenn Beck by telling everyone to...

It was a nice and much deserved day off yesterday if I do say so myself. Topped off by a nice night with the Drinking Liberally crew. Apparently I missed a whole lots a bullshizz about torture and more horrible lies about health care. So it was Tuesday as to be expected. Sadly though I woke up this morning and heard of the passing of Ted Kennedy. He will truly be missed and hopefully his legacy will carry health care reform through. It was his final bow on a great and storied career. We need more like Ted Kennedy these days. Rest in Peace.
Here are your highlights:
Danyl Johnson is all the rage, fuggin amazing
It is called torture and it is back in the news and it is despicable
Talk about civil discourse, this is how bad it has gotten, Colorado Democratic Headquarters vandalized...
I have stated this since the beginning of the this blog, there are crazy people, insane and nutsos who will never accept Barack Obama as President of the United States. Giving them council, letting them weed their conspiracies into many debates is detrimental to democracy in America and it is frightening. If there is to be any hope in the Republican party, they must distance themselves from the fringe or expect to be held responsible when something god awful happens.

I have said this many times, bipartinshap in regards to health care reform, is not needed! It is also clear it doesn't exist. It is silly to let Republicans grand stand like any of them want to help 46 million people. They don't. If they did, we wouldn't have them talking about Death Panels or pulling the plug on grandpa, instead we would hear about constructive ways to lower costs, helping the sick and uninsured and perhaps an alternative plan.

Donate to Asian American Writer's Workshop
My friends over at the Asian American Writer's Workshop are asking for donations. If you can lend a hand it would be much appreciated. Below is a part of their story:
We believe in nurturing writers of promise, whether they’re Pulitzer Prize winner Jhumpa Lahiri, whose first book party we hosted, or a struggling young writer just graduating from high school. As novelist Ed Lin writes:
“Having grown up with the programs and the people of The Asian American Writers’ Workshop, I feel that they’re not only my family but indeed my homeland. The Workshop helped me get my book published. It encourages a lifelong love of writing and reading. It’s a crucial organization not only for our community, but for the ongoing global narrative as well.”
We believe in showing every American, no matter what the color of her skin, that the Asian American story is a central chapter of the American story. We are asking you to invest in our efforts to build a national home for Asian American ideas.
• Last year, we hosted 30% more writers than we did in 2006 and 2007 combined. That’s more than 120 authors from nearly twenty ethnicities.
• My first priority has been putting the Workshop’s house in order. We’re applying for a grant a week. We’ve recruited five new board members, started a young professionals group, and collaborated with 40 different organizations.
• We’re laying the groundwork for the future. We’re working on a website overhaul that’ll turn aaww.org into a national intellectual center, oral storytelling workshops in Flushing and Brooklyn, and a revamped writer fellowship program with artist residencies at Yaddo and Beijing University.

The Incredibles of the Insurance Companies
Sometimes movies gives us a little glimpse about the small truths in our current debates. Fast forward to about 6:40 in this video. I think Mr. Incredible did what most of us have been wanting to do for sometime. RAGE!
Atrios:
What Are They For Again?
John Cole:
Hell, I can’t, for the life of me, figure out what value the insurance companies add at all. Seems like all they do is skim money off the top, add layers of paperwork, and then screw people when they get a serious illness.
This is correct. More than that, most of "health insurance" isn't really insurance at all, except for a bit of catastrophic insurance which they try to avoid paying out.
There really is no reason for them to exist.

It is HUMP DAY ya'll. And what do I wake up to? Stupid Chuck Todd telling me the President's numbers are dropping. Dropping. His presidency is already over. Oh wait, after Chucky said the president's approval rating was down, he talked about health care and all the misinformation. Then we saw all those angry mobs, but what about all those people SUPPORTING health care reform not a peep. We wonder why the president's numbers are down, moron's like Chucky, who run the story line that the President is down, without highlighting how misinformed the public is regarding the plan. Death panels, health care to illegal immigrants, losing your insurance all of these were people fears, ALL NOT PART OF THE PLAN. No wonder Obama is having such a hard time, he can't even get a bone. How the Health Care Debate Goes
Via Think Progress:
Conservatives have strenuously denied that there is any anti-Semitism on display by anti-health reform protesters at town hall meetings nationwide — despite all the evidence to the contrary. Last week, Las Vegas radio station KDWN AM720 sponsored a “contentious” town hall, emceed by conservative morning show host Heidi Harris. At the event, local news stations were interviewing an Israeli man who was praising the “fantastic” “national health care” in Israel. During his remarks, a woman yelled out, “Heil Hitler!” The man stopped, became visibly upset, and exclaimed, “Did you hear this? She say to a Jew, ‘Heil Hitler’! Hear? I’m a Jew! You’re telling me, ‘Heil Hitler’? Shame of you!” After he angrily confronts her, the woman mocks him by making a crying sound to imply he is a whining baby.
To say this is how the debate has turned, well Rick Perlstein would argue, this is how it has always been. I don't know what is more upsetting the woman saying "Heil Hitler" or the man's heartbroken reaction. We shouldn't be shocked by this anymore. Now some would argue that "what about the crazy liberals from the left of leftist conspiracy land?" Both sides have their nuts, but as others have pointed out I don't recall the debate of Social Security having liberals with signs as misinformed nor did they carry assault rifles to Town Halls.
What is even sillier is those screaming government takeover don't even realize they would benefit from a say a public option which would lower their premiums or they benefit already from "gubbament controlled Medicare."
Frank grows in rage, grows in rage, RAAAAAAGGEEE!!! He chucks his computer, picks up the keyboard and smashes ragetastical ninja awesomeness.
WHY DO YOU LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE!? WHY DO WE BOTHER?!! WHAT IS THE POINT OF APPEASING THE GRASSLEY IF THEY WONT VOTE ANYWAYS?!! You know what would keep you in office and in good graces for the people. STOP LETTING THE REPUBLICANS FUGG UP GOOD THINGS! QUIT WORRYING ABOUT THESE NUTJOBS!! MORE CAPS LOCK!!!
It is time for the Dem and those self-righteous Blue Dogs, to forget about the fringe and just grab their balls, put on some Kevlar and get health care reform that will be so good, the nutjobs go back to the bunkers typing about Obama's birth certificate. There is no point in trying to have a discussion with someone as nuts as this lady and those Republicans Senators and Blue Dogs Democrats willing to play nuts like this so they can remain pocketed by the insurance companies. 51 that's all ya need.

Rep. Joseph Cao leaning towards Health Care Reform
Via Huff Post:
In a public forum defined as much by passionate declarations on abortion as by statements about health care policy intricacies, U.S. Rep. Ahn "Joseph" Cao, R-New Orleans, said Thursday that he "leans" toward supporting the House Democrats' vision of a medical system overhaul provided it won't pay for procedures to end pregnancy. "The word is 'leaning, ' " he repeated to about 150 people gathered at an Irish Channel Neighborhood Association meeting, the first of four planned public forums for Cao during the August recess.
This has been developing for sometime now. Cao has mentioned before that he may switch parties ala Arlen Specter and his announcement he is actually "leaning" towards health care reform is a good sign. Louisianna has a passion for seeing reform in Cao's district, let's hope he doesn't get scared into believing his constituents want something else. This will be interesting to watch as Cao is known for his ability to relate to people and his charisma. Also if you have time read the comments as it is good summary of the misinformation of the debate and some decent stories in there too.

Bill Clinton at Netroots Nations answers DADT
Here is former President Bill Clinton in action handling a heckler about Don't Ask Don't Tell. He hits on the historical differences that he faced as President and how sometimes you have to ward off the insane Right to further a progressive agenda. It is amazing how well he answers the questions and recalls what he fought for, but my favorite moment is when he recalls the Gulf War, how many soldiers were kicked out after they served?
I had this discussion Tuesday that in order for Obama and his Administration to really push for LGBT rights whether in the military or in marriage, the change must be permanent. The Right will blast it and try to smear out of the community, Congress and the President for poisoning America, but the truth is inequality poisons America, that is a lesson that should have long been learned. The Administration needs to find away to keep the claws away and forever change this stain in American history. And it is my hope this is what they are working on...there is that word again...

Get Your Dunkin Friday
IT IS HERE!! FRIDAY!! YESS!!! I had fun last night experimenting with new brushes from other designers catalogs. Above is one the pieces I put together. Not bad if I do rage so myself. This weekend I get away for a day with the lady, then onto a the Final Frontier! Not sure what the future holds, but I hope they Star Trek fans everywhere adopt me into their unique culture. I am still not certain I totally grasp the awesomeness of Star Trek I do, however look forward to learning and performing as one who does.
Here are your highlights:
Netroots Nation 2009 is all the happening in the progressive community, Digby weighs in on the ghots of deficits and Howard Dean is still my Secretary of Health and Human Services
Let's just all conclude Karl Rove will go down in history as one of the most vile apprentices to Darth Cheney of all time
Cartoon of the Day: Stay away from my Health Care YOU GAYS!!!
Senat Finace Committee has no balls whatsoever
Illinois foreclosures, one thing I can't stand about how the reporting has been on the economic crisis is all these stories about the "unfortunate rich" As if the crisis wasn't real till the upper middle and upper class was effected...headslamondesk, anybody want to "deal" with Tent Cities?
Today in the Return of the Douche, Rudy Giuliani
The Republican Death Trip, YES WE CAN! and the NO YOU DON'T!
For all the negative b.s. from the Right about the First Lady Michelle Obama, a classy and standup lass if I do say so, it seems the fashion world understands her and appreciates her tastes. I agree, having worked in fashion and retail for sometime, she is a stunning display of mother and First Lady.

Priorities in Chicago * Sigh
These are top stories in Chicago:
15 year old struck by by three bullets in Roseland
Search on for Wrigley beer tosser
As the violence in Chicago gets worse and worse, the other priority and lead story in Chicago is that police are wasting their time over some drunk asshole at a sports event. Obviously these deserve equal amount of time, news attention and effort on the city's part....*Sigh

Get Your Dunkin Thursday
Yesterday was an odd one, but ended up with a great evening with friends, Sushi (did you know Sushi was Japanese?) and wine. It was pleasant outside and calm. One interesting tid bit I received yesterday was a tweet from a disgruntled conservative who said "Most Asian I know are bright, what happened to you?" It prompted me to respond "I try my best not to fit stereotypes, but thanks for filling mine about conservatives!" I am not sure what got him so riled up to actually ask me something like that, but I thought Mike Park of the great Asian Man Records would be a fitting response. If you are unfamiliar with Mike Park he has been for the past 20 years or so one of the most influential independent artists and entrepreneurs of our generation. In 1996 he founded Asian Man Records which has a catalog of phenomenal bands and Plea for Peace Tour. It is guys like Mike Park that inspired me to start getting involved, breaking stereotypes and finding a voice in this great big world. So yeah I thank Mike Park and to you disgruntled conservative "I don't want to be your Asian Prodigy."
Here are your highlights:
Faux News continues to be very fair and very balanced about the health care debate
Stream the new Third Eye Blind album today
Newt Gingrich exposed for the I don't know the one millionith time as the intellectual fraud he is, he turned me into a NEWT!
Mayor Mao Daley still trying to bring in the Olympics to Chicago with his dirty ways, with his backdoor deals and unconsciable approach to the actual citizens of Brownsville. Would you expect anything less? I am not sold on the Olympics being good for Chicago and by how everything is already run here, the Olympics is going to look really fuggin cool, but cause the residents a permanent pain in the ass

Michelle Malkin's Classy Attack on a Kid
Michelle “always classy” Malkin is now attacking a child. Eleven years old. Let me repeat that eleven years old. She has called out this girl’s mother and this girl’s mother’s job. What’s next a house visit? Can’t put it past Michelle “inside scoop” Malkin! RAAAGGE!!!!
Time to strap on my ninja gear and practice my ragetastic ability to break bricks with my pinky! Rage! Brick! Break! Chuck Norris has nothing on me!
What is wrong with this woman? And why oh why does she call this Kabuki? So already knew she hated blacks and the Japanese, but now kids? And where was she when GW planted and planted and planted his townhalls or heck even John McWarVeteran! NOWHERE! NOT A FUGGIN POST!
But the real point is why is she going after a kid, an eleven year old girl? Many other people asked questions, although I doubt Michelle would have as poignant of a question to ask other than “you and your wife are cronies of liberal corruption?” and then have fire come out of her mouth before announcing she sold her soul to Ann Coulter for a book deal. This is an eleven year old girl excited to ask a question and Malkin decides its time to try to discredit an ELEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL followed by a reader talking about debate. They don’t want a debate because they have no valid argument, so they rip apart a girl who at a young age gets to ask the President a question. Shame on her, at eleven she should already be marching in tea parties wearing tee shirts that say “abortion is murder” with a scope, or a nice shirt about “liberty and freedom and guns at town halls over Obamacare” or holding a sign that says “Obama is Kenyan.” Forget letting them grow up and decide for themselves or actually letting them read a history book not authored by Glenn Beck or Mark Levin. Nope just keep feeding them right wing extreme ideas, give them a shotgun and let nature take its course.
Frank just broke twelve bricks the size of Rush Limbaugh’s ego bitchessss!
It is sad though because as Eric Boehlert points out, this could mean making this ELEVEN YEAR OLD girl’s life a little less safe and Michelle Malkin one step closer to getting that thrown of Queen Teabagger.

Wendell Potter on Rachel Maddow - Health Insurers Exposed
The other thing that really made me make this final decision to leave the industry occurred when I was visiting family in Tennessee a couple of summers ago, and I picked up the local newspaper and saw a story about the health care expedition that was being held across the state line in Virginia, in the coal mining area in southwest of Virginia. So, out of curiosity, I just went up there to check it out and was absolutely dumbstruck when I went through the fairground gates. This is being held at the Wise County fairground.
And what I saw when I went inside the fairground‘s gates were hundreds and hundreds of people who were lined up, waiting in the rain, to get care that was being provided to them by volunteer doctors throughout the state of Virginia in animal stalls. Other volunteers had come previously to scrub down the animal stalls to make sure that they were sanitary enough for these doctors to treat people who otherwise couldn‘t get any care.

Wow oh wow, my friends. I am preparing for an unnamed play about Trekkies/Trekkers and the more I find the more I am astounded. Here is "Felking" A reader informed me it is called "Filking" at its finest, Science Fiction folk singing. I am not sure where to begin about this guy, but he is definitely less harmless than say, oh I don't know MILITIAS IN IDAHO! This weekend is making a turn for the awesome, I will let you know more when I find out more, but I must say the lady has come through again!
Here are your highlights:
Ann Coulter gets PWND by a 15 year old
The media missed something? Noooooo wayyyyy, TARP money debacle
Here is something good to hear, credit card companies won't be hawking college kids -these companies are bloody thirsty vultures
How Bernanke was ever Superman I have no idea, but Reuters says he is now Clark Kent?
People are nuts, out of their minds and completely Wingnuttia filled. It is true that a black president has driven people further off the reservation. So why not put on some chill tunes and forget just for a second how insane they really are...

Chris Matthews vs. Town Hall Gun Toter
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
Chris was pretty aggressive, but rightfully so. The implication gives me Deja Vu.
Here is the full quote referenced:
